As an IT Solution Architect, you’ll craft strategic architectural designs for short-, mid-, and long-term projects. This includes assisting in creating a vision and staying up to date on new architectural trends in the market. Your mission? Balance cost-effective solutions with visionary thinking and translate business needs into actionable architecture.
In this position, you’ll be part of a team of 7 architects, reporting to the Head of Architecture and with regular contacts with stakeholders within the IT department and businesses.
What the key tasks will look like
- You’ll translate requirements into Solution Architectures via workshops with business and IT representatives, so that a coherent solution is created that fits in the long-term strategy
- You’ll apply patterns and principles and make sure that they are followed and remain up to date with what is used at DKV
- You’ll follow-up adherence to the architecture during implementation stages of a project
- You’ll work on the Architecture vision by applying new technology trends in the market and by working out long term roadmaps
- With a learning mindset, you’ll keep yourself up to date on new technology trends in your domain and you invest in upskilling colleagues by sharing architectural knowledge with both business- and technical oriented audiences
- You’ll maintain the application landscape at DKV and keep the documentation up to date with Enterprise Architecture modelling tools (Enterprise Architect Sparx)
The skills and competencies you will need
- You have a track record as solution architect, we are looking at minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- You are fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch or French is a strong plus.
- You master the following technical skills:
- Enterprise Architecture and its sub-disciplines (business, information, application & infrastructure architecture, etc.), frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), methods and tools (e.g. Sparx Enterprise Architect) and system-to-systems interoperability approaches.
- full software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Defining, formulating and evolving strategic roadmaps and blueprints, and implementing and adapting architecture frameworks to customer-specific contexts and content.
- Project methodologies, e.g. PRINCE2 or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
- Modelling techniques, e.g. ArchiMate, UML or BPMN.
- Since you’ll have a transversal role, you can easily work with various key stakeholders from both business as IT and you know how to explain complex topics in an understandable way.
- You can easily adapt to a new team; you understand company dynamics, and the role an architect plays in it
- You take ownership over your tasks and projects and have a proactive approach
- You can come up with creative and pragmatic solutions
- You have a growth mindset; eager to learn and to continuously improve your skills and competencies
